Wow! Can you believe it?! I am in Egypt where there is so much history and Biblical history. So much took place here. I am here with the Gandy's and Jesse. It is going to be such an amazing trip. Today was awesome.
We started our trip off with going to the Giza Pyramids and seeing the Great Pyramid. Wow! Is all that came to mind. Our tour guide told us that one stone weighed 2 tons and it took ten years to build one pyramid - which included the underground burial chamers on the hill where the pyramids stand.
After we saw the Great Pyramid and got to touch it and climb on it. Can you believe it? We then went to the Second Pyramid and got to climb down inside it to the burial chamber. I felt like Indian Jones b/c once we got to the chamber we all climbed inside the tomb. It was like the top was going to close us in any second. Climbing out was so much fun --when you reach the top you go AIR. While we were climbing out Jim and I were saying "Wouldn't it be something if an earthquake happened or if the pyramid started to fall?" Everyone said we weren't allowed to be together anymore.
After the hike out we decided we all deserved a ride on a camel. So Lynda, Natalie, and I rode a camel. While Jim and Gillian rode in the carriage. Jesse and Lydia stayed behind to take pictures. I rode the camel named Michael Jackson. He had a star on his face..we got to ride through the desert by the Great Pyramids. Cool!
The last thing we saw was the Sphinx. The Sphinx represents a lion with a human head which some believe to be a likeness of Chephren standing guard over his tomb.
Today was such an unbelieveable day. It was like Reading Rainbow coming to Life.
